I have a mic plugged into my desktop computer, and though everything works fine on it, any noise transmitted through the mic is played back through the speakers. I have tried lowering the levels and muting it in the mic's properties, but it still occurs. I'd appreciate any help.

Same thing. However, I figured out what the problem was. Under the "Listen" tab, I had the "default selection" chosen. When I changed that to speakers, that solved the problem.
