I recently bought a mic and went through a lot o trouble until I found out why it did not work, still I could not solve my problem entirely.

So, the problem is that the rear jack does not work for some reason. When I connect a headphone in the rear entrance, the green jack lightens by itself up in the VIA app, like he image shows. However, when I connect a mic, it does not. After I enabled the frontal jacks, I connected the microphone and it worked perfectly.

I noticed that the mic device is related to the frontal entrance, like the image shows. And there’s is not an option for a device related to the rear entrance.

What I want to know is if there is a way to enable the rear jack for the mic?

I had the same problem. Maybe you have to update the drivers for the VIA Audio card. After the update you can go to Control Panel>System and Security>Device Manager>Sound,Video and Game Controllers and then select Disable and then again Enable. This causes the card to be able to detect better the ports. It is most likely a driver problem and not a hardware problem.

The front audio input (mic) may be to your motherboard onboard sound and not the dedicated sound card. If this is the case you have to do two things:

1) Go into BIOS and disable the sound card or what is called the codec for the motherboard onboard sound.

2) Run the front audio connector inside your computer to the sound card's connector jack.

Audio Out is on the Green socket (standard on PC audio for many years) I can see a green jack for the front devices and the one above for the rear input, on the software display posted - check the physical back panel of the computer for a Green input jack - as stated above it could be that the alternate sound controller is the one plugged into or the settings on the Bios need adjusting ( disable the onboard audio is usually best done in the BIOS as they can be set to be the default )
