Solved Micro-Stuttering in games

It could be that the games vsync setting isnt working as its meant to, if this is the case, i usually just force vsync in CCC or Radeon pro and all issues are resolved

Maybe mate, I am not too clued up on AMD cards anymore. I know with Nvidia you can set it to "Use the 3D application setting" or On or Off or even Adaptive.

although, the whole point of vsync is to get rid of screen tearing and provide a smooth experience. 500 fps and screentearing = unplayable
60 fps and smooth no screentearing = pinnacle

personally I always turn it off and allow my games to run at whatever fps my rig can handle.

Actually Badger mate, I thought the whole point of V-sync was to match the refresh rate and FPS lol.

That's they way I understand it to work anyway. It matches the FPS to the max your monitor can push out.

On my PC I have always had Vsync on, hate tearing so much kills the game. No lag, no tearing, no stutter thats the best way

having vsync off causes horrific screentearing which renders a game UNPLAYABLE no matter the fps i get, Also, the eye cant see more tham 60 so whats the point of ruining your experience so you can have a higher number in the top left of your screen

Microstutter is commonly caused by crossfire set ups,
Also, Pre Built "Gaming" pc's also tend to ship with poor cheap PSU and the same with the Ram. Could also be a factor

As for CPU, the AMD 6 core FX series are great, so much bang for such little buck.
The exact same statement as above for the gpu, although driver support may not be as good, it does have mantle and it saves you a lot.

Well actaully they can if you have a 120hrtz monitor. So the eye can see above 60, now your monitor not be able to do above that is a different thing.

The problem has been solved. It appears to have been a problem with settings within radeon pro. A quick reconfigure seems to have fixed it and the game is running perfectly.

Yep, anytime you get game stuttering, video drivers and settings are always the first place to look

V-sync is indeed linked to the refresh rate. It forces each full image frame to be drawn at the same time, hence the tearing elimination. With v-sync off, it will display half a frame at a time, quickly followed by the second half of the image frame. Thats why you get tearing. You shouldn't actually get tearing with v-sync enabled unless you are running your monitor/TV in game mode, or if the game doesn't actually implement v-sync - even if it says it does. (the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series was a demon for it)

With v-sync enabled, the stuttering and input lag occurs when the FPS cant draw the whole image frame quick enough to match the refresh rate.

Some games tear like crazy without v-sync or 'flicker" badly with certain lighting effects (Dead Space/Crysis springs to mind). Others seem fine without it enabled. it's really a personal preference thing. The majority of the time I use v-sync.

The only problem I have to face with AMD video cards is on GTA San Andreas, too much micro-stutter on single-player and on SA-MP while no problems at MTA San Andreas since the FPS is capped from 45-50 and the micro-stutter fixed itself after a week of playing.
