Windows 7 stuttering in games

Hey I just recently installed windows 7 on my computer but when I play any game it just seems to stutter a lot , I have tried disabling mscorsvw.exe have the latest drivers for my video card installed , tried turning off anti-malware and anti-virus but it did not do anything. I even tried it on windows 7 32 bit and the same things happen. downloaded all of the updates and have down a clean install and it did nothing.

When I use Windows XP the games play fine and they do not stutter.

I tried uninstalling the windows sound drivers since I use a sound card and it had no effect.

I am just wondering if it is my computer. Here are my specifications :


500w power supply which is bronze certified which has one amp on the 12v rail.
a lenovo a55 8985 with a Core 2 duo E6300 1.86 ghz, 4gb or ddr2 ram
and a Nvidia 8800gts 512 Evga

First off. What games exactly are you playing? What average fps are you getting in these games also?

Yes your system isn't the greatest for playing games these day's but so long as your aren't trying to run something like Crysis 3 etc then low settings on most games from the previous several years should run half decent.

What specific make is that PSU as well? Makes a big difference with what brand is used.

But i'm personally putting my money on (And if it wasn't a mis-print on your behalf) 1 Amp on the 12V rail. Because after a little bit of reseasrch the 8800GTS needs 22 Amps on the 12v rail. And that's not taking in to account the rest of what your system is pulling from that PSU.

Oh! And with you saying that these games run fine on XP. Don't forget Windows 7 uses a hell of a lot more resources than XP. One other thing to check beforehand is to make sure you are up to date with DirectX 9. Just because Windows 7 comes pre-loaded with DirectX 10/11 it doesn't have all the DirectX 9 components installed. http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=35

I have a similar problem. Playing Hearts or Minesweeper the system runs in slow motion as it display the mines or after I click a box displays all the free squares. In hearts instead of dealing all the cards fast it deals like it has to think how to move a card from the deck. I also noticed that Excel, which has some animation, seems to move to a new box slowly and you can watch as it scrolls, within a cell, to display the new calculated value. Yesterday everything was working really fast, screens snapped to life, Minesweeper moved fast as did Hearts. I did nothing to the syste. I just shut down overnight and when I started up in the morning everything was slow.

Oh thanks for your reply It is really that my system can acutally play most games at high settings more or less at 60-75 fps it is not the fps I am concerned about it is stuttering that only happens when I play bf3 or bo 2 online it could be that my internet card works with the windows 7 drivers but there are no official belkin windows 7 drivers for my network card it could be something to do with that thanks for the reply

Wierd it only happens online I get over 30 fps on the highest settings on 1280x1024 ...

If you lower your setting to medium or low it will help. In order to player newer gen games you need to upgrade. I would start with the cpu, see if your motherboard can fit a quad core, then your graphics card next.
