Microphone Issue

Hello fellas,
Yesterday I was trying to talk with my friends over ventrilo, suddenly they said they can't hear me only the background.
I didn't get it what they mean by only the background, then I did a few tests, and I found out that I talk through my microphone and there is no sound coming out, I checked all settings and they are working good, so is the pluggins behind the computer, it's plugged well, the microphone is good it's not broken, it's a headset, I got windows 7, What may I do? Please help.

Step 1- download the headset drivers and install

step two try the headset on another computer

step 3 check to see if there is a loose wire, or plug
