I doubt they'd ever rename themselves, the name is too well established.

I think the security should improve. Combine Microsoft and Adobe with MSE should improve security. One downloaded security update from Microsoft and you get it for Adobe also, should work better.

I think Microsoft would just integrate adobe flash with silverlight and agreeing with Layback Bear a security update monthly through WU would be better than quarterly through adobe

PS: lets not forget about Adobe Reader (another niche in the market)

I'm certain they will keep it alive since it is there own project.

I'd love to see updates for things such as Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash, Reader via Windows Update.

Microsoft will most likely either cease development on it or combine it with Adobe Flash. Either way, Adobe Flash will most likely become the dominant software of the two.

I coud already tell Microsoft was favoring Adobe Flash when they said they wouldn't make Silverlight x64. Microsoft is one of the biggest creators of 64-bit software - why would they hold back from Silverlight x64? When Adobe released Flash x64 on the same day as IE9, I knew that Microsoft and Adobe HAD to be having a secret alliance.

I didn't think that far ahead but that's a good vision Klaw117. Makes seance now that you mentioned it. My understanding is this buy out will cover all Adobe products. There is no doubt in my mind the brains behind Adobe Flash and Silverlight will put there heads together and come up with something good. How about SilverFlash.
Microsoft and Adobe, Intel and McAfee, AMD and ?????.

Microsoft buying Adobe? Call me highly skeptical

The New York Times is reporting that the CEOs of Microsoft and Adobe recently met. Supposedly on their agenda: Apple.

I get that. That two of the vendors who’ve had problems getting their interactive media technologies approved for use on the iPad and the iPhone are chatting seems possible, if not probable. A Flash-on-Windows Phone 7 discussion? I could see it. Possible complaints to legal authorities launched in tandem? Sure, another plausible coffee-klatch topic….

But now I’m seeing folks leap to the conclusion that Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer met with Adobe’s CEO Shantanu Narayen to talk about Microsoft buying Adobe (based on a passing mention that such an idea was on the Ballmer-Narayen “let’s team to beat Apple” agenda. There’s this paragraph in the New York Times’ report:

“Another person with knowledge of past talks between the two companies explained that Microsoft has courted Adobe several years ago with possible acquisition discussions. But the deal never moved past informal talks as Microsoft feared that United States Department of Justice would likely block the deal on antitrust grounds.”

Wow - I have never heard of Expression and I'm a graph design student, goes to show who runs the show

I am quite happy with the Creative Suites

Do you use Expression? If so - how is it?

Hmm, maybe they will be smart enough to realize that the bonjour service that comes with Adobe photo suite is wrecking havoc with Windows 7 internet connections and finally fix it once and for all.

And I'd also take silverlight over any Adobe flash player.

I have solved a lot of my problems by removing bonjour from my Windows 7 system. If I wanted Apple I would of bought a Apple.

They should combine Flash and SilverLight, to create the FlashLight! Ultimate marketing.
