Hi there

why can't people GET REAL.

This is just some stupid Lawyers fest -- we've got enough of those people ruining people's lives planet wide.

In any case what about OPEN OFFICE then -- this has a "Word Clone" that's almost as good as Word itself including a very high degree of compatability with Word and MS hasn't gone after them yet.

Who cares if some small crazy micky mouse company using some obscure technology is trying to wring some money out of MS -- MS can easily invent another compatable standard which would leave the greedy money sucking lawyers WITH NOTHING.

If you want to go after MS then do it properly -- hit them with REAL patent / intellectual copyright "theft" or improper use -- so far nobody's done that successfully -- and all that's happened that we've wasted a HUGE amount of money on paying EU lawyers acting on behalf of the EU comission to initiate a 100% totally pointless and ineffective Browser war.

I don't know of many people who HAVEN'T installed IE yet -- if you need any sort of ACTIVE-X run time you need IE in any case. (Of course people USE other browsers but improvements to IE8 and the upcoming IE9 is bound to woo a lot of these users back in any case - especially with the better built in security that MS can provide (MSE for example)

If I were MS I'd just point 2 fingures at the whole kybosh --what's going to happen -- Bailiff's going and seizing property in MS's offices worldwide and their employees going to jail.

290 million dollars is PEANUTS for MS - this stuff is just going to go the way of the dodo - and MS has plenty of "other ways" of ensuring that the small company once the court cases have finished won't survive very long either.

Cheers
jimbo

It's nice to see some of the "older types"(no offence) are still in touch with reality jimbo.

It's also nice to see that money and power can't always buy you the decisions and that fairness wins.

I think it's also really really hypocritical of Microsoft to do this yet are so aggressive in their pursuit of their own copyrights being infringed upon.

Kettle and black spring to mind.
