Microsoft Mouse settings are lost when computer restarts

I have a Microsoft Optical IntelliMouse Mouse.
I programmed the mouse wheel click to 'copy' and the right side button to 'paste'
(which is really handy if you cut and paste a lot like I do).

But, anytime the computer has to restart, those 2 settings are lost,
and I have to open the Microsoft Mouse application and click "OK" (and nothing else)
to those 2 settings to work again.

Is there anyway I can get those setting to stick and not be lost when the computer restarts?
thanks

this sounds like you may need to reinstall the software for the mouse. Uninstall the mouse software, reboot; then reinstall the mouse software, then reboot again to fully initialize the software install. Try that and see if it resolves the issue.
