Microsoft Office 2010 language pack proofing tool without changing UI

Hi

I may have misunderstood the literature regarding the language packs or language proofing tools. 1st of all I am not sure if they are the different names for the same thing or not. Are they? 2nd I do not in ay way want to change my UI with a different language. All I want to be able to do is -1- let Office not give me those squiggly red lines when I write in a different language -2- be able to spell-check and grammar check in the other language. And since I often use more than one language at the same time (2 to 3) be able to use all of the languages for spell-check etc. at the same time. So what exactly am I looking for?

What I have legally downloaded are 3 files that have such a series of numbers/letters: X16-37717.exe, X16-37707.exe， X16-37690.exe. Are these the right kind of stuff I am looking for?

They have different names because they ARE different things.
You can have proofing tools for multiple languages, but no language packs installed. But generally, they come together.

You did not mention your Office edition (Standard, PRO, etc.)

If you say that you got them legally, likely they match your office edition.
I would say go ahead and install them. UIs in different languages will also be installed, but Office UI language will match Windows UI.
So, if your Windows and Office were both in English, after installation of those language packs, it will still be Office in English.

If they are different you can edit Office UI language in Start - Microsoft Office - Microsoft Office Tools - Microsoft Office 2010 Language Preferences.

Same tool can be called by pasting this line in Start search bar
%programfiles%\Microsoft Office\Office14\SETLANG.EXE

Thanks for your reply. What I am referring to I do not think installs multiple languages. By this I mean, you wrote, "UIs in different languages will also be installed" What I downloaded comes in individual languages. Only French, only Spanish, Only Chinese Traditional. SO, if you don't mind me asking how would these, if installed individually also do this: "UIs in different languages will also be installed" ? I'm assuming perhaps that we are not speaking of the same thing (see how ignorant I am?)

it is here that it says it's legal. And what they also wrote is: "Office 2010 language packs are add-in products that enable multiple language and show localized Menus/Display, Help, dictionary, and include localized language document proofing tools such as thesaurus, spelling checkers, grammar and style checkers, hypenators, AutoCorrect lists"

What confused me is another site, in speaking of the same thing and same file wrote, "Office 2010 language packs allow you change the language used for text in menus, dialog boxes and toolbars"

In my case I absolutely do NOT want to change text in menus, dialog boxes etc.
All I want is their dictionary, thesaurus, spell checker.
Hence my question would be, if I install this pack will it automatically install evrything else? It appears to me, based on the installation instructions, that there is no way of controlling what you do want and what you don't. For on this other page it says,
1. Download Office 2010 language pack from here.
2. Double-click on the downloaded file and click continue for the UAC prompt.
3. Select Microsoft Office 2010language pack from the list and click Continue
button to see the license agreement screen
4. Accept the license agreement, click Continue.
5. In the following screen, you can choose between custom or direct install methods...
6. Installation may take a few minutes. Once done, you will see successfully installed message.

The above is supported with images. As you can see, there is no place to choose what is wanted and what is not. Hence my worries.
Your opinion or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

We are speaking about the same thing. I used plural, because you said you want proof reading for several languages (but indeed, you will need a separate installer for each language). If you want only one language, read it as singular.

I would not trust some forums. Because there are some that are known for publishing information, software and tricks that strongly violate copyright and various license agreements.
Discussions of copyright violations are prohibited on this forum.

In this case they might have published some links illegally (though I do not know for sure).
Only these languages are available for free download. And Microsoft sells other language packs for more than 20 dollars.

So, if you will obtain the same software in a REAL legal way thru legal website, then those packs will install everything related to that language: UI translation, proof reading tools, help, etc. EVERYTHING. I do not think that you can select items there, unless if you legally get your hands on a dvd, which has all proofreading tools only (but that is a dvd disc, not single exe file).

I repeat if language of Office UI match language Windows UI (before pack installed), your Office UI won't change. But you can do it manually, if you want.

If Office UI does have different language than your Window UI, then you can change it manually again. See my previous message for how-to.

Thanks for your info. Also thank you for letting me know about mydigitallife. I was not aware of their reputation and no I am not interested in getting the language packs illegally, so thanks on that count as well. I assumed that since they were offered in many places for free, just like the other site I wrote about, I thought maybe there was truth there. I was wrong, thanks.

Finally I did notice (Y didn't i b4???) that some languages are in my Word (Office Professional Plus 2010 ver. 14 (32bit)
However, if I write on those languages that are already there it will have the red squiggly lines, as if they're spelled wrong and I know they are not, so why would it do so? Oops, should I be asking this question in another post? If so sorry.

I said might be illegal. But I was talking about their forum, where anybody can post.
But you posted link to the website itself where only editorial team can post.
That information should be verified. I do not know whether that is legal or not.

About spellchecker in Word.
It will highlight correct word as an error if it was typed in different language.

Example: if you type a french word in english layout, word will highlight it as error.
Right click it and Select a proper language for spell-checking or retype the word in a correct keyboard language layout.
