Starting today, August 4, registrations for Microsoft's Professional Developers Conference (PDC) 2009 have been opened, the Redmond company announced, adding that the developer-fest would be held once again in Los Angeles, and that it would kick off on November 16 and end on November 19.

Some of the things that the software giant is set to unveil at PDC09 include a few details about the future of the Microsoft platform, yet talks will also involve the existing Microsoft products, services and technologies.

The agenda shows sessions on SQL Azure (Azure is expected to be final around that time), Microsoft’s hosted SQL Server service, Silverlight, Windows Azure, Office, SharePoint, xRM, Windows 7, Windows Server, and more. Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 should be launched on October 22, and some details on the kernel changes the company made in the OSes will be presented at the conference.

The company is set to offer a glimpse at the next iteration of Silverlight at the conference, while the earlier-released Silverlight 3 will also have a range of sessions dedicated to it. At the same time, some of the talks will be focused on .Net Framework 4 and Visual Studio (Visual Studio 2010 might arrive around April next year, Mary Jo Foley notes). SharePoint 2010 will be subject to a series of sessions, and the same will happen to Office 2010 (an “Office 2010 as a RAD (Rapid Application Development) platform” session is on the list).

According to Microsoft, the agenda hasn't been currently completed, and more “items” will be added later during the ongoing year. Among the people who will talk at the conference we can count Mark Russinovich, David Campbell, Burton Smith and Stephen Toub. All the necessary details regarding the registration for PDC09 can be found on Microsoft's dedicated site, where more info on the sessions at the conference is also available.
