Microsoft Picture It! 2001 wouldn't save?

Is there any way to get Microsoft Picture It 2001 to work on Windows 7? I have Windows 7 Home Premium.

The only problem with Picture It! is that it wouldn't open any files and it won't save anything. Whenever I hit the save or open button, this message pops up and says "Picture It! 2001 has Stopped Working." And then, it would shut the program down.

I use Picture It! to draw cartoons. It's easy and simple for me because I found many ways to use Picture It! for animation. The problem is that there is not going to be a program like Picture It! 2001 that will let me do the stuff I did with Picture It! 2001 because Windows Live Photo Gallery, which is from what I heard is Windows 7's replacement of Picture It!, doesn't let me draw, animate, or do any thing that I learned from Picture It! 2001.

I also tried the Compatibly Mode that someone suggested, and that didn't work at all. The problem is that you can't save anything because the program stops working after you hit the Save or Open button. Other than that, the program runs fine. But I need to be able to save and open files.

extremely doubtful, it is after all a 9 year old software. this software had a bunch of issues in vista as well that i don't know if were ever cleared up. you may want to check out some of the newer photo software. start here with picasa, it's from google, works great and free. Well, Picture It 2001, unlike other photo softwafe, allows you to draw, cut out, trace, paint, and a lot of other cool stuff.

Most of the programs that people tell me to use to replace Picture It 2001 aren't useful for me at all. That's why the fact that Picture It 2001 won't save or open any files on Windows 7 is a disappointment for me. There is no other program like Picture it 2001.

Could you try to Elevate the Program to Administrator see whether that do the trick.
Right Click on the Icon then Click on Run as administrator

If that didn't fix then

Go To > Start > Event Viewer > Windows Log > Application
You will find errors there post the description.

Could you try to Elevate the Program to Administrator see whether that do the trick.
Right Click on the Icon then Click on Run as administrator

If that didn't fix then

Go To > Start > Event Viewer > Windows Log > Application

I tried to run it as administartor, and that didn't work.

I also tried the Event Viewer, and I saw an error in the application, which was the Picture It!. Then, I clicked on Event Log Online Help. But then, it said:

Results for: Microsoft Product: Windows Operating System; Version: 6.1.7600.16385; Event ID: 1000; Event Source: Application Error;

No results were found for your query.


Did I do something wrong?

I totally agree... I love this program, got new laptop (Windows 7 ) and it's not compatible. Have you found something similar to Picture It 2001?

I know probably nobody reads this becouse is a pain in the to register but just in case i been using picture it 2001 and still cant find other better than this one and my windows 7 can handle such a program thats why i hate windows 7 and i should stick with my xp professional who do the job if you guys cross with similar orogram let me know here is my mail [email protected]

If it's that important, virtualize. If not, give Paint.NET a try.
