Uninstall and reinstall the new one.

Perhaps you have a sig update newer than the download contains. Uninstall current (beta) version and install the new release.

Antman, Are you using this instead of avg? If so, what do you think about it? I've been using it since beta came out and find it very light on resources.

I've been using it since the beta came out, and just upgraded to the final.

No problems, and it has caught a couple of nasties trying to get into the system.

(Microsoft has some sweet servers and big pipes - that sucker screamed in on the download.)

I've downloaded this and it's been doing a scan for over an hour and it's only at 10% or so. :|

A full scan will take a while, especially if you have a lot of stuff on your system. You might want to stop the scan and then do an on-line scan with Kapersky - Free Virus Scan - Kaspersky Lab or ESET - Free ESET Online Antivirus Scanner. I did that, and then set MSE to do quick scans daily.

That should be interesting. I suspect that they will continue to tout their excellent programs, without going the free route.

I don't see Microsoft killing them, just winging them a bit.

Also note he is on a laptop with a 5400rpm hd.

Quick scans generally take no longer then 15 minutes for me, full maybe an hour? Never paid to much attention.

yeah I love how it actually is a quick scan. No more than 10 minutes, compared to other vendors 'quick' scans of half an hour or more. And that was just just the first install scan, every subsequent scan has been shorter!

Although I and a lot of other people class this item as undesirable, including some antispyware companies - the actual status is open to dispute as it is actually supplied by some major OEM's such as HP and Dell
