Malware Research Group has conducted a comparative review of Microsoft Secirity Essensials. In this review we compared Microsoft Secirity Essensials to Avira’s AntiVir Personal and Avast Home Edition. The comparative had three stages:

Real Time System Protection Test: 20 Zero-Day malware samples were used.

Self Protection Test: MRG Self Protection Test Tool V 2.0 was used.

The complete lack of credit info on this company throws a bad light on their credibility.

Also they tested an old version of MSE.

Their results also conflict with other comparative reports.

That was the most poorly written report I have ever seen in my life. Also, see part 7 and 8 of the methodology. According to them, whether an AV manages to stop the malware or not, it passes their test with flying colors. If they can't even fix a blatantly obvious typo before publishing their results, I feel like I shouldn't even read the report (but I did anyways).
