I'm curious why you turn off the power supply. If that's what you mean by mains. Or are you turning off the breakers in the fuse panel?When the PSU is turned off or unplugged, the standby line isn't supplied and the motherboard battery has to maintain CMOS memory. This shortens the life of the battery as well as the PSU. The PSU wasn't designed for repetitive power on/off use.
To clarify after I shutdown my computer, I turn off the monitor so the orange light isn't on and then I flick the switch to off for the plug that powers both my monitor and tower. I do not touch the PSU switch on the back of the tower at all.
Am I doing anything wrong i.e. shortening battery life from doing above method?
