Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 cannot 'open file'

hello guys,

I'm using Win7 ultimate 32bit, recently i had install MVC++ 6.0 in my laptop but when i try to 'open file' it display an error message and after that, it will closed by itself. before this i'm using the same software on Win XP and found no problem at all.

Welcome to Seven Forums hankydorky. Everything I can find says Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 is not compatible with Windows 7. Since you have Ultimate, you can try it in XP mode. Hopefully someone with personal experience with Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 will also see this. A Guy

I have windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, when I install Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 from any source it does not works shows the message of spawning error c1.exe while compilation of a program, and showing the message that it is not compatible for this windows, but it is working good in windows 7 Ultimate . Please do help me, I need Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 as soon as possible in my laptop.

Is the Windows Seven Ultimate 64 bit or 32 bit?

Home Premium may be a problem since it doesn't support XP Mode. If you have XP and don't want to dual boot you might try installing it as a VM using Virtual Box or another VM.

I have VC++ 6.0. One of the reasons I installed XP as dual boot was so that I could install Visual Studio and VC++ 6.0. The thing has so many dependencies that installing in anything newer than real XP is going to be a crap shoot. Always the chance that the one thing you absolutely need is the one thing you can't get to work. It's easier just to put XP on if you have it, and be done with it.

What exact problem are you having? Any error message?
I've some time ago tried and installed VB 6 on Win7, and the install got a lot of problems due to reboots and UAC mainly. Try to use the built-in administrator account or temporarily disable UAC during install may help. Afterwards you should have no problems.
XP in a virtual machine is another last resort option.
