It's funny how many analysts have come out making outrageous assertions that "Windows is dead", "Windows 8 is dead", or better still, something to the tune of "Microsoft is lost in the post-PC era". Well I hope those kinds of headlines garner you some pageviews, and I'm sure they do, but do they have anything to do with reality? The simple answer to that question is "no".

Microsoft isn't "bovvered"* by cheap shots or by hip-fired analyses that paint it as ill-prepared for the coming post-PC era. Nor is it upset by its meager** 60 million Windows 8 license sales as of January 2013. I'm sure the number is close to 100 million or so by now. But it doesn't really matter if it is or not.

Here's what I think that people, especially analysts, fail to realize.....

Hi there
Obviously Ms is a "Millwall FC" supporter and likes the "Bovver Boys".

There actually isn't any realistic alternative to Windows in the corporate world either NOW or even in the medium term. The real anguish people have been having both on this site and the W8 Forum is just how should Ms integrate all the new devices while maintaining some sort of backward compatibility to the "Old Windows".

The real tragedy of the piece is that laptops have been getting thinner and thinner with ever more powerful processors in them such as the i7 yet the current evolution of Windows seems to be intent on making it MORE difficult if not impossible for computers to decently multi task / run applications concurrently totally wasting the power of these new processors.

Cheers
