Might be a unique hard drive problem

I read about the other hard drive issues about them not being detected, and my problem is different. My 1TB (where I keep all my games etc) shows up on restart as my F drive (yes, it does have an assigned letter). However, at random times, the drive will just disappear and all the shortcuts into that drive will be invalid. The drive doesn't show up on the add hardware search, the device manager, nothing at all. However, when I restart, the drive is back and works fine.

Both drives are SATA, run off the same strand from my PSU (different connectors of course), and worked without a hitch when I had the same setup with Vista.

For what it's worth, when I switched to 7, I wiped and repartitioned my C drive and left the F drive (the one in question) the way it was.

Sounds like you have a faulty chipset driver...install the most current chipset drivers and give it another whirl

If i had a faulty chipset why did the problem start right after windows 7 install and never happening before that?

No, I haven't. I installed some updates today (first time since install I think) and I haven't had the problem, where would I check my chipset drivers? through Asus or AMD?

ok, I updated to the newest BIOS drivers I could. The problem persisted. I then opened my box and used a different SATA cable strand to power the hard drive, so each has it's own. hope this works.
