Migrating a 32Gb partition to a bigger one using Norton Ghost

Possible I suppose if it was done more than a few times. I did a wipe with Partition Wizard and a clean all on a SSD before WHS reminded me of the Parted Magic that is still ok so I wouldn't worry too much. :)

So I wiped again using Parted Magic. Now I think I'll just reinstall Win7 and my main softwares on it. The SSD to migrate contains only 5Gb of programs and user files + 21Gb for Win7Ux64. The purpose of Data Migration software was to spare me some times, but it's taking me forever with constant fails. Best be installing the OS again and Basta !

Hey! the thing he posted was to wipe clean the old SSD before re-purposing/selling, not the new.

Anyway, since it is so stubbornly refusing to run, try with the disk copy wizard and select "sector by sector copy". Will clone mindlessly the whole drive, less brains more brawn.
This ensures that it isn't missing anything (as otherwise it moves only the drive sectors it detects as used).
It's weird though, it never did it on me.

So I read again your detailed explanation of HDD and SSD wiping and it comes to confusion since you say that the Clean All command (for ex.) rewrites 0 everywhere while Secure Erase "write "1", erase, rinse and repeat". But in Parted Magic, they actually tell me it's gonna write 0 everywhere
Sorry for confusion, I'll rephrase.
wiping a disk is simply writing "0" in all its memory. The memory cells work in binary. They are either empty ("0") or full ("1"). Reading a bunch of these cells together allows you to get a string of binary code, that is then translated into something a human can read (or interact with somehow) by the operating system and its programs.

Being the HDD a magnetic storage medium, this was not enough in the past (don't know about now, most sources tend to say it's no more the case, yet most safety protocols for top secret stuff still act if it were possible), as some traces remain even if the disk is all full of "0" now. That is, the cell was empty ("0"), but it was possible to see if before it was full ("1") with specific equipment.
To erase the traces for good, you need to write someting on it ("1") again and erase, write on it, and erase, various times.
So that now all the cells on the disk have exactly the same trace, so they all show as "once upon a time this cell was full" with the specific equipment. So you can no more get any data out of it.
SSDs don't leave traces. When a cell is 0, it is 0, and there is no known way to know if before the drive wipe was 0 or 1, so no way of recovering drive contents.

Was discarded by previous owner due to "horrible performance".
Was running Win Xp from a IDE drive. Yeah. Was a pain.
SATA II drive and Win7 and it zips away! Yay!
Going back to your original post G the Partition Wizard would have let you increase the size of the partition right out to just about max so next time mate you will be bale to just do that.

If you want you can use it now and just for a test try increasing the size of any partition on any drive you have lying around I ma not suggesting you muck a round on the SSD.
