Migrating a product key to a new PC and still getting the Win10 update

Hello, here is my situtation:

PC1, gaming station: Windows 7 Professional, with Win10 upgrade reservation and the upgrade icon in the systray.

PC2, working station: new brand PC with nothing installed yet.

If I choose "change product key" in PC1 and I put in another valid licensed key bought in an online store, and I move the old product key to the new PC2 by installing the same Windows 7 Professional, will I be still eligible for the Win10 upgrade in both PC1 and PC2 at 29 Jul?

Thank you

It depends on the licences you have.

PC1,
if its retail you can move it to any PC you like, ie its totally transferable,
if its an OEM its non-transferable.

The second licence you bought also has to be a retail version, NOT OEM, if it is beware.

Note
The W10 roll-out is still part of the testing program, and there are different options even within this.

The label on the box says "Windows(R) 7 Pro OEM Software", I guess it's an OEM.

So it won't work, or is it legally forbidden?

Thank you

Just install a win10 iso from the insider program. It's a free upgrade then.

Just install a win10 iso from the insider program. It's a free upgrade then.

Only as long as you remain in the insider program. Otherwise a qualifying Windows install/key is required.

I prefer installing a more "stable" and official release. The problem is if moving the key from a PC to another, will cancel the free upgrade or not for an OEM

What we're saying is that you'll get the stable version when it releases without the risk of it not working.

Every iso offered M$ believes is a stable version,
Whether it's before or after July 29th wouldn't matter we're too close to make much difference.

It's the upgrading a existing os through the update system is the part not many have done so that will be where waiting is recommended.

Simply testing a iso on it's own hdd or ssd is a now thing.

The answer is Yes, you will be able to upgrade your valid Win7 licenses to Windows 10 any time within the free Upgrade period.

You can also have a Windows 10 install on each PC that will be free within the Windows Insider program as along as you are registered. This avoids using up the Windows 7 Product Key for the Upgrade. You should wind up with a free copy of Windows 10 on that PC since each Upgrade is specific to the PC in Windows 10.
