Windows Easy Transfer doesn't work the way I think it should. After completing the Transfer Windows itself takes on a similar look to the original configuration, but the settings that I most desire to migrate are left behind. I'm talking about all the little tweaks to the registry, stuff like mousehoveractivate, tootip delay times, etc. The stuff that is transfered seems aimed more towards applications. Is there something I'm missing? Perhaps there is a way to get the tweaks straight from the registry and transfer them that way?

I doubt whether EasyTransfer will reimport settings that violate System File integrity.

The AppData folders mainly pertain to installed apps.

Even then, reimporting hidden AppData is a corruption path that defeats the fresh clean reinstall's purpose.

Be aware that tweaking Win7 beyond normal System Settings will almost always come back to bite you. Be sure to bookmark our Crashes forum if you persist.

I'm not sure you are understanding me right. I don't care about Appdata. I want to transfer the look and feel and settings of the Windows UI itself. Maybe I need to figure out roaming profiles? Maybe I need to just start writing down all the registry tweaks I make from now on. It seems like there ought to be a better way.

I referred to AppData because this is where your settings are stored and would have been reimported from. As stated this can also be considered a corruption path from an old install into a fresh clean install.

Also as stated Win7 will not reimport registry tweaks since they are altering the OS's system files and are seen as corruption. Win7 is not XP, doesn't need any tweaking beyond normal System settings - they will almost always come back to bite you, like it or not.
