Solved missing cd driver message on X64 install

I am trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate X64 on my computer. When I get to the "Collecting Information" stage I get this error about missing cd driver.

I have an Abit AWD9-MAX MOBO and a ASUS 24B1ST DVD/RW CD.

Any help would be appreciated.

Where did you get Win7? If you burned the DVD yourself, try burning another using ImgBurn at 4x speed with Verify. Confirm the ISO is intact by checking its HASH against official Win7 HASH or downloading another.

Are you booting the installer to try install or running it from Vista? If you're doing one, try the other.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS update. If so, reset the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways To Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

While in BIOS, set SATA controller to AHCI first, then IDE mode if that fails.

Try removing all but 2gb of RAM then try install. Test your RAM with memtest86 overnight.

Solved

You were correct in saying I needed to check the install DVD. It was bad.
I put in a Linux CD and everything worked, so my Win7 DVD is bad. I will get a replacement.

Are you over installing a 32bit OS with Windows 7 64bit?

Just because Linux boots doesn't necessarily mean the DVD is bad.

This is why we asked where did you get Win7? Did you burn the DVD yourself?

If you bought a retail Win7 DVD then it might not be bad, first try one of the other steps and answer the questions given so we can interact to help you.
