After installation of a larger SSD, I found that my previously available COM Ports are not available. Looking through the listings on the Device Manager I found no available options to get to my old COM Ports.

You're missing the driver. What computer do you have? Or what is the make and motherboard manufacturer?

Edit-

And posted at the same time.

How do I install chipset drivers?

1. Double-check that COM ports are enabled in BIOS.
2. Open Device Manager and click on the root of the tree (the computer name). Click on action from menu, then select Scan for hardware changes.

Hi Iko,
Thanks for the reply
1. I went through my BIOS and found no mention of COM ports.
2. My device manager showed no computer by name, only "ACPI x64-based PC". Selecting "Scan for hardware changes" lasted a few seconds, blinked twice and changed nothing that I could find. Existing COM Ports (COM1, COM3 and LPT1 never changed and there are no options for other COM ports available.

Thanks for the link to the Gigabyte website - that was very helpful. I presently have an active Case File # open with them, seeking clarification of where and how to locate the necessary drivers. They buried me with possibilities on the initial click. :-). I'll follow up with the results when I get a fix.
