Missing .dll files

Alright, well, I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but here I go.

I am missing some .dll files like MFC71.dll, and a few others. I am wondering if installing .NET Framework will replace what is missing. I know that it installs a lot of programming type stuff. I am just wondering because I don't want to download each file individually, and then still have to figure out what files I need to download. I guess I am looking for the quickest way. Hoping to get some answers from you guys.

Thanks.

I was hoping that would work Bill2, but it doesn't. I will just let my system go, and If I run into any more issues I will deal with them as they come, because I am not about to install my entire OS for some application that I will never use.

By the way Tews - that is some troubleshooting you did there! One step in troubleshooting gave an answer that didn't indicate something is wrong, and you tell them to reinstall their OS. I don't think Guru is fitting.

If you are having an issue with some specific apps only, suggest you reinstall them. That should put the missing dlls back in place.

A repair install doesn't reinstall the whole OS into a clean state. It basically just superimposes itself over your existing one, and fixes and/or replaces any missing files/components. While keeping your files and data intact.

It's often a method used near the end of the line, but more times than not it does help where SFC won't. And basically only resets a few system settings back to default here and there. ;)

With very little information given by you as to what exactly is missing, how it might have come to that point, it's a little more difficult to give an exacting answer.

You won't find much help here with an attitude like that. And rudeness is not tolerated here.

I agree. If it doesn't at least he/she whilst knowing which app it is that generates the MFC71.dll error could visit the site and see which version of Visual is supposed to be required for it to work.
