Solved missing drivers

I own a toshiba satellite c8550d -s5900. I downgraded win8 to win7 ult. and I cant find these 2 drivers; sm bus controller, usb2.0-crw. My device manager tells me the manufacture is "unknown". I tried Toshiba, Realtek, and Microsoft. I've considered using one of those websites that find all your drivers for you. I really don't want to pay any more than I allready have. I'm not sure if they could find the right ones! Please help!

you need to update the motherboard drivers, the smb and usb drivers are part of that.

Never, ever PAY for a driver. Use caution with Slim Drivers it has shown me drivers for non-existent hardware.

They may not have drivers for w7 since it was sold with Win 8.

I use Slim Drivers on my Win7 PCs and have recommended it to other who have had not problem with it.
Just because you did not read the fine print is no reason to keep putting the program down.
If the OP reads the fine print, it will help.

I am adding to it, we can post in any thread here. I have had poor experience with Slim drivers as have others.

I agree with Derek - it should be an absolute last resort. These sorts of driver finders are notorious for the problems they cause and we always baulk at using them...what makes Slimware any different?

I know of one member here who used it and then spent several hours trying to remove Slimware from their system.

We really should not be recommending this as a first approach.

Gandalf, your response to Britton's post makes me wonder why did you suggest a third party tool when the post #2 already had the perfect, correct and valid answer? Double standards? Do you really mean you are allowed to present alternative solutions but nobody is allowed to comment?

Personally I hate these "free" tools, what I've heard about Slimdrivers and especially the company / site behind it makes me wish the OP would instead follow the sound and valid advice in post #2 by Cyanna and download the chipset / motherboard driver from the manufacturer's site. That solves the issue, both SMB Bus and USB drivers are included in chipset driver.

No need to install a third party tool for this simple task, especially when the tool suggested is known to be quite hard to get rid of.

Is the model number a typo? It didn't come up valid on Toshiba support site

That said, fyi...

SM Bus Controller is a data controller for slow speed devices. Sometimes it's part of the m/b chipset, other times it's part of a third party device added to the m/b. I'm guessing you really have a model C855D?

Does your Toshiba have a card reader?

Look for the card reader driver for your model and install it. (The model C855D has a Realtek card reader. SM Bus controllers are often a part on the card reader)
