Okay, I got Windows 7 re-installed on my Lenovo ThinkPad laptop. Now I can't connect to my home network or the internet because none of the drivers installed. Not sure what I should do to install the drivers, could they still be on my Windows 7 installation disk? If not, how do I get and re-install the proper drivers? Thanks much,

Kat:confused:

Normally, they'd be installed from the Windows disk, but that doesn't always happen.

Go to the Lenovo web site and search the support area for your exact model. Look for driver downloads. It may be called an Ethernet driver or a NIC driver.

Download that and put it on a USB thumb drive or whatever you have so you can then install it on the Thinkpad.

I'm assuming you don't have any type of Lenovo-supplied CD that came with the machine that might contain drivers.

The only CD that I have is my Windows 7 installation CD, would that have the drivers on it? I had to do a full wipe and re-install on my laptop to get rid of Ubuntu. My daughter talked me into trying it and I hated it, had to get help getting rid of Ubuntu and re-installing Windows on my system, and now no drivers.

The Windows installation DVD does contain drivers, but not necessarily ALL required drivers.

Your best bet is to go to Lenovo web site as I mentioned.

There is some possibility that your prior Ubuntu installation is still interfering, but I'd assume not and just go get that Lenovo driver and see if that fixes things. If not, report back.

I'm on it, downloading drivers as I type.

missing drivers

Hi Pashakitty,

If you can get internet access from another computer, you can google Lenovo System Update (or go to Lenovo's site) and download the System Update file onto a thumb drive and run it on the computer having the issues. When you run it, it will list all available drivers and you can choose which ones you would like installed. It will contain the drivers that you are looking for.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Kevin

Well, I got the driver downloaded and installed, (via flash drive) but for some reason I still can't connect to my home network. I have been trying all of the troubleshooting info in the help menu, but so far nothing has worked. My network is hidden, but I added all of the info (that I know to add) to my laptop, (SSID, WEP key) but it will not connect. Really don't know what else to do. I tried my ISP troubleshooting recommendations as well with no luck. I have emailed them about the issue but have not received a response yet. My ISP is CenturyLink in case that helps or makes any difference.
