Hi all,

Been trying to install an update for the ASCOM astronomy common model platform and getting error message that the file mia.lib is missing.
Does anyone know what this file is and if it should be installed by the Win 7 install or where I can find it,
searched Microsoft site but no luck.

Dell XPS 15z, i5, 4GB, Win 7HP

Did you try downloading the installer again, rightclick the .exe to Run as Administrator?

Have you asked the program's author if this is a known issue?

Did you have it previously installed so that it may not have uninstalled correctly?

Yes had it installed once then had to do system restore which reverted it to v6.0a then tried to update to v6.1 which removed v6.0 and then said it couldn't install v6.1 because this file was missing.
Just wondered if it was part of the ASCOM install (can hardly be missing then) or a Microsoft file.

How about undoing System Restore then uninstall the program using its uninstaller, redo System Restore and try installing it fresh?

What was the reason for System Restore? Maybe there's another solution so you can undo it and not redo it.

Did system restore after accidently downloading some rubbish and not sure if it had made any registry alterations.
Uninstalled the program and removed all traces of it.
Installed v6.0 of the program OK, upgrade to v6.1 fails mainly because it thinks I haven't got Vis C++ 10.00 64bit installed but I have, then it trys to install Vis C++10.00 and falls over.
It complains about the missing mia.lib file so I guess that has something to do with detecting Vis C++
Guess this is just the joys of computers :)
Have been in contact with the program publishers but so far no joy.

Thanks, Dave
