hello all
i have some problem about missing files from document
my notebook was join to the company domain with user named "grif"( administrators group).
i change the domain to the workgroup. and the system login with user named "administrator"

now i can't find the files in document inside grif folder
i can access the folder but the folder is empty.
i tried to "take ownership " and grant permission the folder, but it's still empty.
with the old user ( grif ) i only can save file in to document folder.
the current owner before i "take ownership" is "S-1-5-21-515967899-......"
someone please help me....
thanks in advance

Sounds like the files were on the company server and not on your PC. Why did you switch from Domain to Workgroup? Is this your PC of a company supplied PC?

Yes, my laptop is company supplied.
I was setting up the new printer for usb sharing. I couldn't find my new printer in network. When i set to workgroup the printer sharing is work.
I don't know how the IT support set the rule of my laptop
FYI...the domain server is overseas. Not at my office now.
May i find the way to get back my files?
Thanks

You should probably talk to your companies IT support staff before you do anything else. I'm personally not knowledgeable enough to help you any further.

The owner "S-1-5-21-515967899-......" is probably your domain account. As you disconnected from the domain it can't find the acutal name to go with it so instead it's showing the SID.

I'd hazard a guess that your IT staff had setup folder redirection, meaning when you were looking at "Documents" on your laptop you were actually looking at them on the server.

As alphanumeric said - Talk to your IT support team.

Can't you just rejoin your laptop to the domain ??

Once rejoined you're IT staff can probably recover the files.
