Here is a pic to help you guys:

I know this has something to do with a registry error? Quesiton is, how do i revert that back to the default icon or if not revert, at least replace it with a new one.
If any of you guys out there can help me, it would be very awesome!
Thanks in advance!

Any time you use a app to mess with icons you run the risk of messing up your icons. I would recommend uninstalling that app and or doing a system restore to before you installed that http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html
I would also recommend you run Option 2 of this tutorial http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html it will not harm any data or programs you have installed it will repair any corrupt system files that may have occurred when you used that app. If that doesn't help a repair install or a clean install may be in order.

The OPTION 2 didn't work. It would only "flash"/"pop-up"and disappear and nothing happened even after waiting and browsing for a while. Aside from those (including system restore) is there another way to maybe download a file or something and at the same time tweak some values/whatever those stuff are in the registry to help restore that missing/corrupted icon?

Basically, i think that the issue just lies with a missing file (that was maybe replaced by the conifier app) thus, that annoying blank file looking icon on the taskbar. In any other field, its all fine, it only does that on the taskbar when i open a folder.

You could try this tutorial http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/139810-sfc-scannow-run-command-prompt-boot.html
Not knowing exactly what that app did it would be very hard to track down, I am speaking from experience I used a iconpacker one time and learned my lesson now I change icons manually so I know what I have changed and have better control over it.
You could try a Repair Install http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html if that doesn't help I would recommend backing up all your data to an external hard drive and do a clean install http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html

Hey Arc and bongo, sorry it took a while to reply. I appreciate all the help! While my internet was out for the last couple of days, i took some time to experiment and figure out the issue. I've found a way to replace the hideous missing icon file on my taskbar at least. Check out the pic below:

That's a good news . :D
BTW, if you want to get the default explorer back, write "%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe in the search bar, and click the "OK" button, it will display the icons contained in explorer.exe. Set the first one.

Hi guys, sorry to bring this post back from the dead but I am having the exact same issue. I used the same program and now my explorer icon looks like this:

Since all the image links tkwolf posted have expired I have no idea how he fixed the issue. Any help would be very appreciated.

Hey Arc, how do I get to that Change Icon menu?

My Computer

OS
Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit
Go to C:\windows\explorer.exe. Right click on it > properties. In properties window, click on the customization tab, and click on the change icon button.

It will give you the change icon dialog.

That worked fine until I unpinned Explorer from my taskbar (I do not normally keep it pinned there). From looking at the icons in my SHELL32.dll it appears that the normal explorer icon has been corrupted, as shown:
cx0RJZR.png

I'm thinking this is the cause of the issue, is there any way to fix this?
