Months ago I found second microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter in my Network adapters. I don't know how it appears (hotfix, new driver???).
This week I reinstalled my laptop and microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter is gone. I try everything to get it back: new drivers from Dell, new drivers from Microsoft, Windows Update with all of updates etc. Nothing helped.
I use Windows 7 Ultimate x64, laptop is Dell Vostro 1700, physical WiFi is Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini Card.
How can I get back my microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter??

As far as I understand it's "native" to Windows 7.

You may just need to "enable" it in network adapter settings.

Did you try to "Set up a new connection or network" and try to connect to the Wireless?

As far as I know:
  1. Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter is native for Win 7
  2. Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter is accessible only on supported HW.
I looked at adapter settings and there is no control for "virtualization" or something like this -)))And my wifi is supported, because I used Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter with my iPhone before reinstallation of my OS.

I solved this. Everything I had to do, was run: "netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=NameOfNetwork key=StrongPassword" and Virtual Wifi Miniport adapter appeared in my Network Connections windows.

To Sanoh:

I just want to say thank you for helping fix my Virtual Wifi Miniport adapter
problem.

I followed your post to run: "netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=NameOfNetwork key=StrongPassword".

This solved my problem.

I have been working on this single problem for 4 days. I have spoken with Toshiba, Dell, and HP as well as Microsoft support and it seems you are the only person on this planet that knows how to fix this!

Again THANK YOU!!!
