I'm trying to install a program and it's telling me that I'm missing the mscoree.dll file and I don't have .net framework installed. The program was previously working but I had to remove and reinstall it, so it might have deleted something.

Do I reinstall Windows 7?

Hi Turtleboy,

The .NET framework is included with all versions of Vista and Windows 7 by default, Did you by chance follow a guide to remove ClickOnce from Firefox recently?

Steven

Following the guide to remove ClickOnce should have nothing to do with the above, had the guide been followed correctly :);)

Willy-nilly deleting stuff, other than was stated in the 'guide' (clearly) will be asking for problems. But doing so will be simply be down to inexperience, in which case, one should have avoided in the first place.

You have made your point dmex, and I see no need for sarcastic comments about a post you think I shouldn't have posted. I was trying to help others by bringing said post to their attention that is all, any action taken by the user following said post is up to that individual, I never held a gun to anyone's head?.

Just for the record, my systems are all fine (4 of them) after following said posts instructions properly.

I don't know what the problem was, but I solved it by wiping and doing a clean install. I'm not very carefully making and keeping track of restore points before each and every thing I do.

The issue that took me all day to figure out was that the program and all its components expected to be in the Program Files folder, and if it was installed in the Program Files (x86) folder, it didn't work. Even though the installer defaulted to install there.
