Hi all,
I have this message on my laptop. Unfortunately I bought it with Widows 7 instaled and no cd or dvd was given to me. I was told I can burn a cd on my own whih I never did.
So is there anything I can do in that case? Please help me!

If the OS was installed where is it? It does not matter whether or not you can burn a CD, you can even borrow one; you need a key number and that will cost $150 for an upgraded DVD and more for a full version. There may be a key on the computer, take a look

Hello & welcome to Sevenforums,

You can burn a cd of your own from an iso file, then install the operating system x32 or x64. When asked for the key, look under your laptop computer on the MS sticker and enter your key. you should be able to activate your copy then!

you might want to repair install/boot from a 7 DVD/USB stick aswell.

PS:
Can you finish to fill your specs in the forum, that might be useful to help.

Where do you think the OS went - it cannot just disappear. It can get damaged, but that can be usually fixed. A bit more information about the exact situation might help us to get you into the right direction.
There is also most likely a recovery partition from which you can reinstall. Tell us the make of your laptop and we'll see whether we can find the exact procedure.
Tell us also wether there is data on the PC that you care to save.

If I manage to do the things you all suggested, will I loose the files?

Try to recver your data e.g. with this program or any other live Linux distro. Computer First Aid Using Knoppix

Excellent whs...but are the path the same for Windows 7?? looks the tutorial stops at XP
It is not really a matter of path. As long as you can access the disk, you will be able to get to the folders.
And yes, this one is a little old. But it gives a good explanation how to do it. For someone not familiar with Linux, that may not be obvious if we were to recommend e.g. Ubuntu or Fedora.

Thesis is where, if no OS, everything is gone.

After you scared the hell out of me, I thought there must be a way. So I somehow managed to run Safe mode and to copy the files. I also made a recovery disk as you guys said and now when I restarted it didn't bring any messages and all went smoothly like nothing has happened. Anyway, I don't like the whole thing and maybe reinstall will have to be done as soon as possible.
Most important - I have my thesis back and the world is a happy place again :geek:...

Thank you all!!!!
