Solved Missing Problem Reports

Somehow problem reporting has gone missing on my system. Not sure for how long. When I try to turn it back on it says that Group policy may have disabled it.




Considering this is a single PC running Home Premium with no GP editor how can I change this?

I'm not sure if this will help but you could check this.
Startup and Recovery and make sure Write Event to Log is checked.

The Problem Reports and Solutions Control Panel Support is stopped under Services. Please Start the service and enable it Automatic and check.

@LBB Event logging is checked.

@Centaur Set to automatic. It started, ran for a short time after reboot and then stopped. No change to the error reporting settings screen.

Post #1 you have (Never check for solutions) in the picture.
Try one of the others maybe the recommended.

They are greyed out and not selectable.

Try turning off UAC move lever all the way to the bottom.
Start Orb and type/ UAC and tick on it.

I found a lot of things in Help and Support.
Type in Report Problem Settings.
This is not a cop out but their is just to many things to check. You don't know when this happened so in my opinion using a restore point back a little time might solve your problem. Going back to far might not be worth all the updating for you. I'm still thinking; what ever that is worth.

Thanks LBB. I don't think System Restore will help either. This could have happened some time ago as it is not something I would normally check. I'l go through your suggestions. I may be gone some time...

Well I have got half a fix. Selling the following registry key to zero enables WER.



Unfortunately I still can't change it through the control panel.



I had hoped that "Don't show UI" would do it if set to zero but no luck.

Have you tried under the built in Administrator account?

That's a thought. Although I don't see that will get me any further forward. I will give it a try tomorrow.

You would need to delete both the keys you find under

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsErrorReporting

and reboot the system

You should be good to go.

You could run SFC /SCANNOW it can't hurt.
I really don't understand why one would have to be changing things in the registry to get such a simple thing fixed.
