For the Office products, the change icon button is grayed out. This is what the programs look like in the start menu: http://puu.sh/7geoy/6786f1af99.png

While going through the properties of the shortcut in the start menu programs, this is what I get: http://puu.sh/7gfmA/34e94e96c4.png

The .docx icon is missing as well: http://puu.sh/7geM9/38e8a7aed8.png

I have tried using sfc /scannow but nothing has happened. I've also tried rebuilding the icon cache.

Seems like the problem is that I'm missing the folder "{91150000-0011-0000-1000-0000000FF1CE}" in my Installer folder. Does anybody have a full one I could use for myself? This doesn't fix the .doc/.docx problem, sadly.

Hello Erak, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You should be able to run the Office installation again without uninstalling your current one to do a repair install of Office that will hopefully repair the icons and associations as well. :)

Thanks.

When I try to select the "Change" option within Uninstall or Change a program, a window pops up that says it is preparing the necessary files, but then it closes right after and nothing happens.

How does it work if you reinstall using the Office installation media instead?

I'm currently using a trial version, so how would I do so?

You could use the same media that you installed the trial version with.

So I redownloaded another trial version because I deleted the installer from the original one, and I ran into a error in which I couldn't install. After using a tool from Microsoft, I managed to uninstall it, but it's still in my program list. When I tried to install from the .img file downloaded from the official site, the installer crashes and stops working.

Yes, that was what I used to uninstall, and that is the trial that I currently have downloaded.

I do not recall using that trial before, but all I know is that I've used the old one for a while with no problems. It did give me a key to use, and after removing the entry, I am able to start the installation.

.docx files still look like this in folders: http://puu.sh/7gznc/32622ddcce.png
And they look like this within the start menu: http://puu.sh/7gzrZ/b33746ea34.png

Not sure how the folder in C:\Windows\Installer was deleted in the first place, but the icons are basically fixed. Thanks. :D

Fixing icons

For those of you that find this, I have created some instructions that solved this issue for us. Our issue was caused by installing Office 2013 on top of 2010. It didn't remove the old version for some reason. So when we went to uninstall 2010, it screwed up the icons.
