Solved Missing taskbar icons (Battery, Network, Sound)

Hi,

I know this problem is constantly reported, but I have tried literally every solution I can find online and nothing brings them back.

They are greyed out in the settings and so cannot be enabled that way. This occurred just after installing SP1.


Things I have tried

* Editing in Local Group Policy Editor, all values are set as disabled

* Looking for the same values in Regedit, not there, so should work.

* Deleting another registry (forgot name, from Classes\Local Settings directory)

* Random bat files and MS fix its that i presume do one of the above


Any other suggestions?

Create a new account via Control Panel, User Accounts. Do they show up there?

Just done it, nothing shows up.

You may have damaged/corrupt system files. If the problem just recently started you could try System Restore and return your system to a date/time prior to when the missing icons started.

If System Restore doesn't work you could then try System File Checker to scan for damaged or corrupt system files. If any are found, run the scan 3-4 times.

Thought of system restore before, but when i checked, turns out I switched it off to save me some space.

Scan completed and everything is back, thanks for the ideas, never knew of that scan
