Missing upgrade disc

Hi All,

I am from the UK I received my order confirmation that the W7 upgrade disc was on its way to me by DHL but on tracking it it has gone to South Africa and according to DHL my name and address was not on the package, ms have cocked it up.

Fine the problem is I can find no way of contacting ms to get another disc, no phone numbers no emails nothing!
Even the website support needs a product number which obviously I dont have, my supplying dealer cant help as the upgrage comes from ms.

It seems that ms have not thought that anything could go wrong with a delivery, let alone in the post when the UK is having post strikes.

Any help on getting through to ms would be appreciated

Did you buy this directly from Microsoft, or did you go through another company? Call whomever you bought this from, give them the order number and the DHL tracking information, and they will send you another disc.

The vista disc with w7 upgrade was bought from a dealer, he says that the upgrade comes from ms so nothing to do with him and its not DHLs fault as it was labelled correctly, its ms fault but I cannot find a way to contact them.

The dealer will have a contact number for Microsoft - ask him for it. Or, you can visit the Microsoft website and look for a technical support or product support telephone number. Start making phone calls until you get help. Get the names and employee numbers of every person you talk to, in case you need to "throw someone under the bus".

That would be simple if the dealer would give me a number but he cant because ms won't allow him to!
The website help needs a product number which is on the disc I dont have.
And telephone suppert starts at £45.00, yes I cant believe it either.

It seems that here in the UK ms have buit a bitlocker around themselves, if I could find out where and from whom it came from in Europe it would be s start.

I even understand that they are posting some of these discs so no wonder they dont want any contact they are going to be inundated.

As an option can I download a free copy using my free upgrade id?

Did you receive your key in an email? If so, I'd just download the ISO from Microsoft - check out this link:

Thanks, thats a great help I will try ms on Monday.

The order code or what ever its called was with the vista disc, just quote the number and they send you a free upgrade disc, whether I can use it to download, I will give it a try.

What I would suggest is that you email them all the information that you have now including any information you have from other partys like DHL.

On Monday when you ring them they should be able to at least refer to the same information as you while discussing options

It's arrived, I could not believe it it was in the post all the way from Germany about 12 days even with postal strikes. So perhaps ms got their act together afterall.

Got it up and running clean install 17 minutes so far so good.
