Mobile Broadband Dongle Probs.

I have recently acquired a ZTE MF 112 Dongle from 3
I installed it on my wife's laptop, (running Windows 7), without a hitch.
Unfortunately when I tried to do the same on my laptop running the same OS, all it appears to do is install then when I click on the icon nothing happens.

A few months ago I decided to disable some of the services that I didn't think I would need on my laptop, could this be the reason?

If it is, can anyone furnish me with the services that need to be enabled?

That's a lot of stopped services...might I ask why?

I tend to avoid playing with my services as when I disable something I tend to quickly find some application that relies on it. If your wife with Windows 7 has no problem then I would presume that you should be the same - maybe try putting your services back to defaults and then see what happens.

Quite a lot of these services are for me unnecessary so by turning them off it speeds up my laptop.
What is the easiest and quickest way to return them back to their default settings?

Something seems to be stopping the dongle from installing fully as whenever I insert it, the set up option always appears.

That makes sense then. I did the same on my laptop but found it gave me more headaches especially when it came to installing software/hardware. Now I've got an SSD so no need to stop services!

I don't know of a fastest way to reenable the services. Ideally you would copy the current configuration out of the registry before you tinkered with the services, and that would allow you to easily reload the defaults back in. What you could do is look at Windows 7 Service Configurations by Black Viper which is a list of Windows 7 services with their defaults, safe settings and performance settings. Obviously your mileage may vary with these settings (except for the defaults obviously).
