Monitor is black after sleep mode, but not hibernation

Hi guys!

The thread title about sums it up! When I try to wake my computer from sleep mode, my monitor gets no signal/is black. The "rest" of the computer seems to wake up just fine.

The monitor was working fine with Windows Server 2008, after sleep mode, but I just recently upgraded to windows 7.

I have already tried:

displayswitch /extend
displayswitch /internal

in a .bat file

using "Hibernate Trigger", "Power Triggers" and Windows task sheduler.

Doesn't work at all for me.

Any idea what might be wrong/how to fix it?

Maybe he died in sleep X.X

How did you tyed that when your monitor screen is black?

Maybe it did!

Using "Hibernate Trigger", "Power Triggers" and Windows task sheduler it is possible to make a *.bat file run, which contains those commands. I set it to run upon wake up, and I used Windows task sheduler to run it every 5 min, always. For testing purposes..




Ohhhh and added should be, that my computer APPEARS to wake up when I press a button, it lights up, the harddrives starts, the lights indicating the computer is on/if the harddrive is working - looks like they normally would when the computer is on. It seems like the screen is simply "offline".

Thanks, but disabling Hybrid sleep, doesn't work neither.. And using Hibernate instead of Sleep is not an option neither since I need to be able to access my computer from other computers... Work related.

There are some updates to download, and I will do so now, but I doubt it it make much difference..

No luck! Also tried installing the monitor drivers from the manufactorers website (Dell). Didn't help neither.

Check in your Power Setting, Advanced and make sure your monitor Sleep is set to Never.

That is not a solution. That is disabling the entire feature.. Sorry but that's not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for beeing able to use sleep mode.

Anyone knows any other reasons why the computer never detects/doesn't send a signal to the monitor when awoken in Windows 7?

As a new starting point ,

there may be, depending on your system, various options in the BIOS as to the actual mode used to go into sleep, (S1,S2,S3, Etc.).

You may want to try adjusting these if possible. Also, the motherboard drivers, have an effect on this, you may wish to check if there are newer versions than the ones you are using.

You could also check for possible upgrades for the BIOS itself, as a few manufacturers were caught out with changes under the skin in win7

Suggestion; with the recent upgrade, it's possible that the refresh rate was changed. Check to make sure it hasn't changed, if it has switch it back to 60 htz. If it hasn't try switching it to 75 htz.
