monitor issue, not optimum resolution optimum settings 1440x900 60HZ

Iam running windows 7 ultimate on an older PC and i wanted to change the resolution once. The pc reacted to it with a black screen and a small window going around it saying , not optimum resolution optimum settings 144x900 60HZ and then a yelow box with a ? under it. I cant do anything in that screen nothing if i restart my pc i can hear in the background how skype starts up and other stuff but the monitor is still black and the window goes around. I tried turning the monitor on and off nothing happend, i tried pressing the auto resolution button on the monitor didnt work. Dont have any other buttons on the monitor for resolution settings.

Please help someone.

See this tutorial. Go to item 3 to get the Advanced Boot Options.

Select Enable low-resolution video (640X840)

Press enter.

You can then reset the resolution to the proper value from Windows.

i have a problem that when i get in to the boot menu i get to choose some weird settings like what i want to boot. There are 2 of them hard disk and cdrom. Under hard disk is -sata 1 : samsung HD250HJ and under cd rom -sata2 : TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S230N i asumed iam supposed to go on the samsung one but i only get to the normal windows error recovery and can only choose the safe mode and the others like start windows normaly then i choose cdrom but same happend
