The display of my desktop computer has stopped working. I have a laptop to work with. I need some data out of the desktop computer. Since the display's not working, I can't, for obvious reasons, use it and take the data out. I cant borrow any display from any friend neither can take the CPU anywhere. Is there any possibility of taking the data out of the desktop? Maybe possibility of doing something that I can perform without the need of the display? Any ideas?

You could get a hard drive dock and then remove the hard drive from the computer where the monitor is not working and put it in the dock and retrieve your data from their.

You got a TV you can connect to?

I;ve always been able to buy cheap Dell.HP.Acer monitors for 5 bucks at Salvation Army, they are pretty good at having decent computer gear sometimes.

But I like that SATA hard Drive Dock, I wish I had one...

Hi dudenum,

There are numerous options available. As rightly suggested in post you can connect the desktop to a TV and can backup the data or you can also take the internal drive and use it as external drive.

You can easily buy harddrive casing at below link:

sata harddrive | eBay

Connect it to a laptop and you can copy all the data you require. Hope this information helps.

Kindly update your system specs here by following this.
