Monitor Preference

This isn't exactly a W7 question, but this is the board where this question best seems to fit. Is there a way to control which monitor that a program is displayed on, even if that program has no option available in it own settings, and it doesn't display the UltraMon control buttons, or respond to any of UltraMon's customization options?

What I have in mind at the moment, is XBMC, which can't be minimized nor drug from one screen to another. It either runs,, or it doesn't...period. I can use "Show Desktop" but then it will pop up again, when I select any other program, and both are stacked on the same screen.

Can the program even be moved around on the screen?

Windows programs frequently take a lot of control of their own placement. There are some third party "Window Managers" for windows like WinSizeMe (older program). But even they can't necessariy control ALL windows. If the program itself puts itself some place and periodically updates it position it'll always go back to where it wants to be.

But try searching for "Window Manager" for Windows and maybe try some of the other programs...

I'm not sure how common it is, but this is the most stubborn program that I have run into. Probably because it is of Linux origin and ported to Windows.

Hmm, I looked around some myself at "Launch program on secondary monitor" and came up dry. Sounded like UltraMon was supposed to do this (is recommended a lot). So if it doesn't work on that one program then there may be nothing else to do... I don;t know of any and can't find any reference to any windows built in mechanism for launching an app into a specific monitor, which is really too bad all by itself. Would be a nice feature.

It's probably like that since it is designed as an HTPC front end and you usually only have 1 screen on your theater setup.

And that is the way that I will use it on my HTPC, but I do all of the editting, etc. on my desktop. It would be nice if it worked well either way.

If it's not too complicated a programmer may hack together a script for you. Or if anyone knows a freeware that's already out there they will suggest it.

I've written a couple of scripts for people requesting there. But I don't have multiple monitors. All my windowing stuff is single monitor for that reason.
