Monitor problem?

My monitor started having a few problems recently. It goes black for like 1 secound and then it comes back to normal - it does this randomly, not just when I play games. I've noticed it changes my display from SyncMaster to Pnp non generic monitor. Right now as we speak, it is in pnp non generic, it doesn't detect anything else, but it still does swap automatically, randomly between them(Sync Master to pnp non generic and vice-versa). It also changes resolution sometimes, especially whenplaying games.

I have updated graphics, actually my computer has been upgraded recently, the store told me they updated the computer properly.

I have a Samsgun 933HD monitor and a old VGA cable.

Could it be because of the cable? Should I switch to VGI or actually just buy a new VGA? Is it the monitor? It can't be graphics card, I just double checked it and it says there's no updates to be done.

NOTE: This isn't a very frequent problem, I was having it and that's why I changed a few things on my computer, but the problem still remained, but now it isn't that common.

hi you could try changing the cable and or try the monitor on another system or another monitor on yours. that should tell you if it is a monitor problem or computer or cable problem.

eather or is fine i run both vga and dvi i can't tell a differance in the screens.

DVI and VGA cables are different. They will not plug in the same port. Make sure your PC and monitor both support DVI. Get a DVI cable if you can. Which one is yours?

Mine is a very old VGA cable. My monitor is a Samsung 933HD, it supports DVI. Does it display sound though? I've heard DVI doesn't, I'm confused.

DVI does not carry sound, (no need to, monitor speakers are terrible) always use DVI over VGA, vga is garbage.

Which of the ports is on your PC, the VGA or DVI? If your PC and monitor have a DVI port (see picture in link to determine the difference) then buy a DVI cable and use it. If you only have a VGA port on your PC and Monitor, then you have no choice except to use VGA. Neither of those carry sound, so nothing will change with that.

Alright I've found a HDMI cable I had around in my apartment, I didn't even know I had it though, kek. It seems to have finally detect my monitor and fixed all the problems. I might consider still buying a DVI cable, in case this HDMI gives me problems(I don't know how old is this HDMI cable, I simply found it in a box, a box that supposely had only old stuff in it - a box where the VGA cable is now RIP). Thanks for all the feedback, I'll be here again, in case something goes wrong again.

The picture quality should be the same with HDMI or DVI. The only difference is HDMI carries sound. Glad you got it straightened out.
