More BSOD

Hi All,

I have a new build PC 1 week old details below, I have not yet installed any updates and all was fine for a week then constant BSOD's so currently running build Version 6.1.7600 Build 7600. I installed all the updates and was still getting constant BSOD so did clean install and was waiting to update to make sure all was well.
Both times I had installed Avast antivirus but this time i have uninstalled it and am still getting BSOD thinking it was that.

As far as my knowledge goes is that my errors are 0x8xxxxxxxx errors but not sure where to go from there any help much appricated.

BIOS is uptodat version 1408

I wonder if X10 USB Control Interface is causing the issue, dated 2006. Also update secdrv.sys.

Also update your ATi drivers. Install the latest driver from their site, but not the Catalyst suite.

Also run a memory test. Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder. Boot from the CD, and run at least 5 passes.

Hi All,

There were several causes of these crashes. Most were related to memory. I would download memtestx86 and run it for 5 passes.

There were a couple that seem to point to win 7 files because of this I would also run a system file check by
(type cmd in search>right click and run as admin> sfc /scannow)

If you are overclocking stop.

2 problems I ran comand sfc /scannow yes there is a corrupt file which says it will not repair and also i ran Memtest and I have bad ram test 7 brought back 42 errors first pass then 108 ect on test 7

i will try 1 stick then the other.
It say port 0 which i would persume is the stick in A1 so i will swop and run check again.

Also checked for ATI updates AMD Support Search

There are none
Currently Driver version 8.56.1.15

No overclocking as the basic setup provides more than enough power.

Looks like RAM is your issue.

Keep in mind that whenever Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot. Try testing each stick individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

So storry so far:

I Get constant BSOD crashes: no win updates done yet however on previous install did updates still crashed BSOD.
I am running i5-750 with a Asus P7P55D-LE MOB with 4gb ram 2x2gb modules in solt A1and B1: I first run memtest86 and found RAM issues. since then i have tested each module in slot A1 and B1 with a 4 pass.
Module 1 fully passed both slots
Module 2 Fully Passed both slots

This time both modules 1 in A1 and 1 in B1 passed a 4 pass memtest 86 without errors??????????????

Possible issue has come to mind, I am building this for Dad im a different OS user but generally like the new OS in windows 7 so I had to format this drive on a Mac using a 3rd party NTFS tool if you know anything about Macs it does not do NTFS. SO:

The last issue crash i received was (stop 0x00000024)
NTFS.SYS - address FFFFF880012BA933

I now a little stuck, tomorrow a new HD 750GB arrives (mine) but I am thinking of this PLEASE TELL ME IF ITS A WASTE OF TIME

I will install 750GB in PC reformat NTFS install win 7 run memtest (?) pass with modules using new boot drive.


Then what format old 320GB which is this install drive and do a clean install will this solve my issues ????????



If not please let me know what tests to run before this major overhaul thanks for all HELP!!!!!

NTFS.sys is a hard drive issue. Often means either the cable, controller, or drive itself. It may be worth installing onto the new drive to test.

Or you can use one of these utilities to test your old one: HD Diagnostic

ok Gave me DAD the new 750GB hard drive I've ordered another tried to format the old 320 and drive failed and wont mount seems the old HD was knacked hopefully this will fully sort the issue.
