Hello, I got a Intel GMA 4500M in my laptop, and I was wondering how I can let more memory into the card, because I have upgraded the RAM to 4gb 1066 DDR3 so I have more to share. Where can I find that option? And if you have any tips on how to speed up the card performance please let me know! :)

p.s. Im trying to run GTA SA smoothly but it lags :s

it shows that available video ram is 1.7 GB. and you simply don't need more for such a weak gpu.

There must be some tricks to speed it up a little bit?

possibly. but i'm not aware of such tricks.

though, you can look into Intel graphics control panel and maybe there are some gfx quality settings that you can turn down/off. :)

Lordbob75, his GPU must not be all that old if he claims to have DDR3 RAM.

Also, being that your system seems like a newer one, you may be able to upgrade your graphics card. The one you have is an integrated chip which uses your RAM. Such chips are not good for games, even the newer ones. You'd be better off with a dedicated card.

I am going to assume that the system in his sig is NOT this laptop.

Maybe this is the GPU he had. I did some Google searching. Seems like a newer GPU to me. Based on information given on the page, I assume a mobile graphics card such as a mobility Radeon could be installed which would yield better performance and not need to take from the RAM.

Intel graphics uses what Intel calls "Dynamic Video Memory Technology" (they need to update this page),

Graphics — Dynamic Video Memory Technology (DVMT) - How much video memory do I have?

which as I understand it it uses a fixed amount up to 128 MB taken from system ram, and based on total system ram. I also have a feeling their "up to" figure is using something like this,

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/89278-video-memory-virtualization-brief-guide.html

to come up with the 1.70 GB total mentioned here (scroll down to "3D Features Comparison"),

You can play that game, but quality and framerate are another question entirely. That chipset is not recommended for gaming by gamers. Intel GMA 4500M is used mainly for business work, movies, some photoshopping, etc. You will be able to play basic games just fine, but once you hit the newer, graphics intensive games, you are likely to lag, skip, or even freeze.

Well if u want to increase memory go to the bios, search for video memory option and set it to how much ever u want but there is a certain limit to do so.

You can increase memory on a vid card?????
I do not think so.
Windows definitely allocates system ram to work with vid card.
You can tell a puters user to be restricted to ram, thereby negating the pagefile, you can disable HT in bios and get a little system ram boost. You can get a thumbdrive and use it for ReadyBoost which can help.
Over clocking your vid card we'll get you better card performance, but you could ruin the card.
AGP cards used to have an apeture setting you could adjust, is yours an agp card?

The simple answer is no. And even if you could share more RAM for it, it wouldn't help you with such a weak video card.
