More problems! CD/DVD!

So yes I had a thread about my computer not wanting to start up well, here is another problem, I went and bought a new wireless card for my computer D-link Extreme 3 antenna's 67 bucks, so I installed it into my computer, and then try starting my computer up hey what do you know it does not work again! so I tried the paper clip trick and unplugged everything and the power supply booted, and then I plugged everything back in and it turned on, barely. Now my cd/dvd drive won't power on I have tried switching between different power sources on from the power supply and nothing it won't boot at all, I went into the boot sequence and it shows it in there so I am starting to wonder what is going on! :\ I am starting to think my power supply is starting to die.

Swifty, that is a distinct possibility. However, since this problem occurred when you installed the wireless card, I would look there first.

My computer is quite fine now it boots like it should, I just seriously am having my curiosities towards a almost fried power supply, the card works perfect if not better than my old one, I might be leaning towards the fact I was to use the 8pin but was running on a 4 pin for several years now and that might be the cause of all this shinnanigans.

That's a possibility, but I don't think it would have to do with the 4/8 pin. If anything it may have damaged the wire, but I don't believe it would have damaged the PSU. The psu would have had to put out the same amount of power through a 4 pin as it would have through an 8pin. I'm really not sure how that works, but the PSU would have been putting out the same amount of power. If it were me, I would test all other components first.

What do you mean test all other components first? I am just wondering why I am having so much trouble with my computer all of a sudden its just really strange it happened ever since I switched my case.

What I mean is that it could be the PSU as you suspect. But it could also be the wiring, or the ram, or the hard drive or the CPU or the GPU. That's what I mean. If everything else checks out then you are left with the Motherboard or the PSU. I still would not want you to spend money on a PSU and still have the same problems. If you are not worried about the money, you can buy one anyway. I never hurts to have an extra. I have 2. I may use 1 in another build though.
