More RAM or new CPU?

Hey guys! So I made another post before about what I needed to upgrade to reduce lag when making videos. Now, most people said I needed more RAM but I want to ask again. I work with Sony Vegas Pro 12 in 1080p in 16:9. I have right now 8GB RAM, AMD Phenom II X4 965 CPU and a Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 5850 and of course Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Now, do I really need to upgrade my RAM to 16GB or do I need a new CPU?

Looking at the SVP 12 system recommendations you shouldn't be that bad, your CPU (3.4GHz quad core) is way above what they recommend (2GHz is their reommended CPU speed) and they state 4GB RAM minimum and 8GB recommended. An extra 8GB RAM may well help things along seeing as you're working with video, but I'd leave the CPU alone. Unless you upgrade to an i7 it's not really worth it, and that would mean a new motherboard as well.

How much ram do you use now? If only 5 gb or less then 16 gb isn't going to help you out much you'll just have a lot of wasted ram.
