More stable?

let me start by saying i dont know if there is a thread about this sort of thing already and if there is im sorry for repeating but is it just me or does win 7 not seem any more stable or less likely to crash and freeze than vista? I am running 7 on the same machine i ran vista on and it seems to me that many of the small bugs and malfunctions that vista had are still here in 7 despite all of microsofts claims that 7 is more stable and doesnt crash and freeze like vista.

If you did an upgrade, you may have just inherited Vista's problems. I hope that you did a clean install.

That or you are installing the same buggy drivers you had with Vista which made it unstable.

I honestly haven't experienced very many issues with stability on Windows Vista. It's been extremely care for me to see a crash or BSOD.

I can't remember the last blue screen I had, but it was several years ago when I was using XP. My issues with Vista were largely minor and related to configuration.

After 2 or 3 weeks on Windows 7, my issues are very few--probably less than I had 2 or 3 weeks into a Vista installation.

In Vista, I would have very occasional lockups--less than one a month. I haven't had any yet on Windows 7.

All fans PWM; speeds at idle: CPU circa 500 rpm; intake circa 600 rpm; exhaust circa 600 rpm; CPU temps 27 idle and 47 C load in a warm room (27 C/81 F) when running Intel Extreme Tuning Utility stress test.
I just had a few BSODs on Vista during the past week.

No BSODs using Windows 7 (Beta - RTM).

i did an upgrade as opposed to a clean install because i have alot of media files and didnt want to reorganize what has taken me a long time to set up, so i probably did inherit some small bugs leftover from vista, which is something i had not thought of. although i havent experienced a bluescreen, at times i have had trouble shutting down and at times programs have just stopped working

If you take the time and reinstall now, (clean install", make a system image after your installation, you will have a better working OS and never have to reinstall again, because you have the image.

You really shouldn't upgrade from Vista to 7. As for backup, do you backup regularly? A clean install is best.
