More than one System Image?

I have a large back up drive and after a couple of recent 'problems' I've had to restore from a system image which in both cases worked fine. I've now come to take a system image once a week so I don't have too much to re-install etc after restoring - this is no problem as I just do it at the weekend. The problem is that Windows wants to overwrite the previous image every time even though there is plenty of room on the drive for more than one.

So my question is how to I force Windows into creating more than one image on the same drive. I know I can split the drive in two but would prefer not to. Many thanks.

I assume you are using the built in imaging, there is a note in this tutorial on how to keep several images.

If you're going to keep all of the System Images on the same hard drive you could simply rename each image. When it's time to restore to a specific image, just rename it WindowsImageBackup.

Thanks to both you guys - obvious really, though you would expect Microsoft to make it easy by asking the right question? But then again it works so no complaints.

I personally use Macrium which you don't have to rename, they both work.
