motherboard failure

so my motherboard failed on my home nuild system i had built this a while ago it is a msi p45 neo motherboard with 8gb ddr2 corasair ram
itb seagate hard drive
pny video card
dual core 8400 processor
i changed the battery n the video card still the board would not rspond

so i have an old dell c521 boots up so evertyhing on it works
i swapped the hard drive out so the dell has my itb hard drive
the only thing is i can not get it to boot up
i really do not want to go and erase it
and dod a reinstall

butat some point i am able to go see the hard drive and look att he documents and folders from my system build
but i cannot get the windows to loAd

i get system resore failure
even when i put in the wind 7 disk it will not do a systmen repair or sytem restore
i cannot boot in safe mode
so only when i do a system restore from the command propmpt in go to advance setting can i see the 1 tb files with allo f myfilesan d documents

any ideas
i really do not want to doa reinstall

please help


and i have all my documents on my harddrive

unfortunately, doing a re-install is about your only (and easiest) route to take.
You drive has the drivers from the failed system, which is why it will not boot.. If you need to remove files, put the original dell drive back in & read the other drive as a 2nd drive & you can remove the files you need.

To do what you want download Paragon Adaptive Restore CD - SkyDrive
Burn to CD using WIndows Image Burner
Boot to P2P Adjust the Win7 partition so it will now boot on new hardware. You can do this operation on the new hardware itself.

If it won't start at reboot you may need to confirm that the 100mb System REserved (preferred if you have it) or C is Partition Marked Active and then run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times
to repair the System Boot files.

When it starts it will swap out most drivers in a cascade you can monitor by clicking on the driver animation in the bottom-right System Tray. While it's doing this enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3). After requested reboot install all Important and Optional Updates until there are no more offered when you reboot and check again.
