Solved Motherboard is very sensitve - moving it too much makes it shut off

The board is a MSI -A78M-E35

This is a $50 board....

I am doing a new install for an old PC. Everything but the case (Alienware..real nice and the guys wants to keep it) is being replaced.

I put the mobo on the ESD plastic that it came in and put that the mobo box. I'm on linoleum and even using an ESD strap! Install went fine but twice nice it has shut off. Once when I was tightening the monitor cord and one other time. Don't recall what I was doing.

I ran memtest before doing the install. PC seems to behaving...installed chipset, LAN etc from the mobo DVD.
Is this normal? Makes me kind of paranoid to put this board in the box. The whole reason I'm doing this out of the box because my 1st pc build, ever, had tons of problem and the board ended up being bad.

I believe all connections are tight. Decent PSU (corsair 430)

Never place the mobo on the plastic cover it came it as it will conduct electricity and short the board ! Place it on the box only then test build it!

Just a little note.

The static bag the motherboard came in is static protected on the inside but most likely is not protected on the outside of the bag.

Please do as linnemeyerhere has suggested and get back to us.

Moving your motherboard and having problems usually means a poor connection or a bad motherboard. Double and triple check your connection. Some of them can be difficult to get all the way into the sockets. Make sure you have no side strain on the connections.
