Hey guys,

I am trying to figure out why windows xp would not boot. When I disconnected everything except for the power supply connected to the motherboard, the cpu fan doesn't spin. The power supply fan is spinning, the led lights are on, but the cpu fan is not spinning/working. Any ideas?

So are you saying the memory and add in cards, hard drive(s) are all removed? How long is the power supply turned on, typically the CPU fan will spinup in maybe 10 seconds if the CPU is cold on start. Do you hear a beep code from the Bios?

Yes!
The add in cards, memory and hdd are removed from the motherboard. The speaker is plugged in but I don't hear a beep from BIOS. I watched the cpu fan for over more than aw0 second but no action.I was even trying to help the cpu fan along, to see if it wasn't jammed because of dust or something. My initial thought was that the mobo isn't good anymore. But I need a second opinion.

You need at least one stick of ram for it to boot.

That is true, but the beep from the bios would have at least given me an indication that the mobo is alive. Unless the mobo is dead or the speaker isn't working anymore.
